The purpose of the Military Affairs Committee (MAC) of the Jacksonville·Onslow Chamber of Commerce is to maintain and continually improve the relationship between the military and civilian communities.  It serves as a vital, informal communications link among Marine Corps Base Camp Lejeune, Marine Corps Air Station New River, the Chamber, Jacksonville City Council, Onslow County Board of Commissioners and state and federal legislators.

The Military Affairs Committee accomplishes its mission through a series of activities designed to remind members and the majority of citizenry that it is a privilege for this community to serve as the home of Marine Corps Base Camp Lejeune, the Marine Corps Air Station New River and the Fleet Marine Force stationed in Onslow County. 

MAC honors one service member a month that exemplifies what it means to be a Marine/Sailor.  Service Members selected as the Service Member of the Month are eligible for Service Member of the Year.
