African-American Heritage Trail

The Vision

African-American Heritage Trail LogoThe development of the Jacksonville•Onslow African-American Heritage Trail is a combined effort of Onslow County Tourism, the Onslow County Museum, and the Minority Business Services Division of the Jacksonville•Onslow Chamber of Commerce. It was formally announced in February 2010, and is an ongoing project.

Initial phases of development have been completed throughout 2010 and 2011.  Development will also extend into the future, as additional historic, cultural and other sites are identified and added to the Heritage Trail.

A Culminating Celebration is planned to honor the completion of the initial phases of development.  It will be held Feb. 17, 2012 at the  Jacksonville•Onslow Chamber of Commerce.

Detailed information and an interactive trip planner are available on the Onslow County Tourism website.
