BUSINESS DIVERSITY COUNCIL

The Business Diversity Council serves as liaisons for implementing the Diversity and Inclusion Plan across the organization.  The plan enhances our ongoing actions and provides a more strategic focus on diversity and inclusion to enable our organization to establish and sustain a high-performing, and inclusive membership that reflects the rich diversity of Jacksonville and Onslow County.

Additionally, the Business Diversity Council plans four events highlighting the diverse culture in Onslow County.

HISPANIC-LATINO BUSINESS FESTIVAL

The unique festival experience showcases the Hispanic – Latino business and arts culture with vendors, food, and dance.

MINORITY ENTERPRISE DEVELOPMENT DAY (MED) Luncheon

The Jacksonville•Onslow Chamber of Commerce has joined in the nationwide Minority Enterprise Development Week commemoration with its’ observance. During this October event, the Minority Entrepreneur of the Year and the Linda L. Richardson Advocate of the Year are recognized. A special Awards Luncheon ceremony acknowledges the recipients of these prestigious awards. An expo is also held with business owners networking with potential customers and other business owners. The event is free and open to the public with a luncheon provided. Extensive media coverage occurs.

BLACK HISTORY MONTH

Date: February 5, 2024 to February 9, 2024

In celebration of Black History Month, the Jacksonville Onslow Chamber of Commerce Business Diversity Council (JOCOC BDC) will provide a three-day event:

  • Professional Development Day: A learning day for business professionals and their employees. Continuing education platforms are a great way to develop employee skills, boost morale and improve recruitment efforts. Keynote speakers will provide training on topics that will help grow a professional and thriving work environment.
  • Business & Black Excellence Networking Mingle: Enjoy a unique blend of networking, business collaborations, giveaways, delicious food, and a special tribute to Black history during Black History Month. Connect with professionals from diverse backgrounds, explore collaboration opportunities, and savor delectable cuisine while celebrating the rich legacy of Black history.
  • African American Heritage Trail Tour: The event begins with lunch, and a presentation at the Jacksonville Onslow Chamber of Commerce, followed by a tour of a few hand-picked trail markers to show the history and accomplishments of local African American leaders, communities, history, arts, and culture.

WOMEN-OWNED BUSINESS EXPO

The JOCOC BDC will celebrate and host women in business with a Women’s Business Fair. The fair is a unique shopping experience showcasing women-owned business vendors in Onslow and surrounding counties.
