Project CARE

Project CARE (Community Action Readiness Effort) combines the efforts of various local government, military, Chamber and community organizations to provide:

• Assistance to families of deployed military personnel;

• Assistance to local businesses that may suffer because of large-scale deployments; and

• A means of boosting community spirit through appreciation events and other activities during the difficult times that may face our military community.

Conceived after a large and hard-hitting deployment of local troops in the first Gulf War, Project CARE was fully activated on January 17, 2003, for Operation Iraqi Freedom and continues to provide assistance for military and community needs.

We are proud and grateful to be a part of the Jacksonville-Onslow County community tradition of supporting our troops and their families. Since its adoption, Project CARE's approach has been adopted by military communities throughout the nation.
